Interpretation: The first thing I noticed was the model staring at the tree in the distance. But after taking a closer look, the scene becomes post-apocalyptic and surreal. There's no way a tree could be that big (it might be a mile high), there's some kind of dust that completely permeates the air, and there's some smoke coming from a building closer to the foreground. The scene could even represent the aftermath of a futuristic civilization that was destroyed, only leaving behind a single genetically altered tree. The twigs near her could be souvenirs she got from the tree many years ago. She may be taking a rest as the night is beginning (assuming the left side is the same as the west, and the sun sets in the west). The platform she's laying on seems high above the ruined city. She may be in the middle of a journey towards the last great tree, and peering towards it with restless determination. What's there? How did the tree grow so tall? And why is she interested in it? There are many thoughts and questions raised by the picture.
Positives: A good use of the backlighting on the model with the sun in the background and to the left. The model fits seamlessly with the scene. The river leads from the her to the tree and also mirrors her left arm. The size of the tree was a good decision because it may have been hard to notice if it was smaller, especially since it blends in with the background so well. The area of focus is well constructed by using a dark to light transition from the right to the left. The handling of the colors and contrast is well executed.
Negatives: The small plants on the edge of the dock were handled in an odd way. The left side of the hair looks unnatural. You added strands on the right to make the hair look more frayed but not on the left. The peninsula thing on the right part of the horizon feels irrelevant and I thought it was a dark smoke cloud at first.
Overall not bad. I was surprised this was done with only a few stock photos.
I find this picture breath taking. the brightness far away from the model and the way she is sitting makes it look like she is wanting to go there , it reminds me of the movie " The lovely bone " which is one of my favorite movies . on the other hand her hair and how untidy it is with the outfit and the small hands and feet makes it look like she is a very young model . So this piece represents what i can call the young child's dream. her trying not to slip into what she desires the most is quite fascinating . And i should add that you skills in editing , i couldn't believe that this was the original piece [link] Bravo
I am not very critical! This is absolutely stunning! I like sci-fi and fantasy a lot and pretty girls.. and this would fit so many scenario's! Really nice mix........ Really like the monster tree in the distance and the wood walkway and her frilly dress.. Loots of things here to tweak my imagination...
